Jayana Butler 2021 PCF Scholarship recipient

The  Murdoch University Mandurah campus is ideally situated for 19 year old nursing student Jayana Butler.

Not only is it close to where she lives with her family –Jayana leads a busy life over and above her studies. She works part time as a pharmacy assistant, cares for elderly grandparents and attends the gym regularly.

Jayan says being awarded the  PCF 2021 Nursing Scholarship has already helped her with her studies dramatically over the past year.

“I came into Murdoch University straight from high school. I was eager to start my journey in nursing and couldn’t wait any longer. I completed a bridging program through Murdoch called TLC110 throughout year 12- this was one day a week after school, and gave me an ATAR of 70.”

Jayana says she chose Murdoch because of their amazing facilities

“Murdoch has great facilities here for nursing students. They have two simulation rooms which I absolutely love as a hands on learner. They really benefit me and my learning a lot.

“ I love the fact that we have a campus down here in Mandurah just for nursing students. The vibe is immaculate as we are all passionate about the same things and cannot wait to get into the big wide world and be a Registered Nurse.

My future endeavours are to be a Community Nurse working for Silver Chain or recently I have been interested in researching FIFO nursing jobs.

“I am hoping for community placement this year so that I can get some experience in community nursing. This will give me an idea of what it like, and to make sure that it is the field I want to go into when I am registered.

“I cannot explain how grateful I am to receive the Peel Community Fund Scholarship. It has benefited me significantly already and I am very appreciative of this.”
