Peel Community Fund Scholarships – Murdoch University

The Peel Community Fund has always been committed to building capacity in the Peel region and education is a very important aspect when increasing the sustainability of the region and its residents.

In 2013 a scholarship program was established at Murdoch University – with 14 scholarships awarded to residents of the region from 2014 to 2021.

Two scholarships a year of $3,000 are offered for the period of course study – up to the three years ($9,000)

One scholarship is available for an undergraduate student living in the Peel region and studying at Murdoch University’s Peel campus. The second scholarship is awarded to a student resident in Peel and studying an environmental science course at any of Murdoch’s WA campuses.

The scholarships have proved to be of great value to the student’s university careers- providing those students with a life of financial stability. It also has offered the students the opportunity to develop professional connections through scholarship networking events and the freedom to do some volunteering work as student ambassadors

The community and industry also benefit, as by working with schools, students and families, the scholarship program has a positive impact on raising the aspirations of students.

By attracting students to further education within their own community, it is anticipated that the end benefit of increased skills and professional capacity will be returned to local business and industry and will have an ongoing impact on the future economic and social growth of the region.
